Raina and Joe Carolla give back with heart

As the COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing, Raina and Joe Carolla gave a generous donation of specially designed, colourful masks with the Hope & Cope logo. The couple took care of all the details, from contacting the supplier to arranging and receiving the shipments. The first shipment of 300 adult sized masks was distributed to patients coming to the Jewish General Hospital’s Segal Cancer Centre for treatment and to health care staff for their personal use outside the hospital. The second shipment contained children’s masks, which were distributed to the children of cancer patients through Hope & Cope’s En famille program.

“We know firsthand what cancer patients go through,” explained Joe, whose wife, Raina, was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago and is now cancer-free. They are both grateful to Hope & Cope for easing the distress of cancer patients. The Carollas have a history of giving back. Two years ago, they generously donated hundreds of beautiful silk scarves and turbans, which did wonders for the self-esteem of women experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment.

Concluded Joe, “If we can make a small difference to uplift patients’ spirits even for one minute, we are proud to do so. We look forward to continue helping in any way we can.”
