Monday, February 21, marks the launch of the new closed community for cancer patients within the BELONG application. This application is available to our CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest patients and families.
Developed in Israel and used by participants around the world, that is to say that the BELONG app is the largest social and professional network for cancer management and navigation! And the BELONG app is a free resource!
Patients and caregivers can be anonymous and receive support from others. In addition, the app provides users with educational resources, peer support and many “Ask the Expert!” forums.
What is a closed community and what cancer resources will I find?
This new closed community is a private, password protected area of the BELONG app. It has been created for patients and caregivers of the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal. Here, we share resources that could benefit and be of interest to you and your family. Our closed community forums for cancer patients are monitored by Hope & Cope staff and volunteers. Most importantly, in this closed community, you will be able to access our resources, find information and tips from your care team, monitor your health, chat with other patients & caregivers, and more!
An access to cancer patient forums and more
As a member of our closed community for cancer patients, you will have access to our private forums (one for patients, one for caregivers). These forums will be on your main page and can be identified by the Hope & Cope logo. You can post a question, news, an image, or you can respond to what someone else has posted, for instance! If you click “Files” (second from the right on the bottom menu), you will have access to our curated CIUSSS folders. Within these folders are resources or document files that could be of interest to you.
How do I start?
Firstly, download the BELONG app through the App Store (for Apple products) or Google Play (for Android users). Once the app is downloaded and it is open, you will be prompted to sign up if you do not already have an account. Once your profile is complete, the BELONG app will prompt you to watch their simple tutorial to give you an understanding of how the app works.
How do I join the cancer closed community?
Join our closed community by clicking the Settings dropdown menu (three horizontal lines). Here, you’ll see the tab that says, “Closed Communities”, click this! When you click ADD, you’ll be asked to enter an access code. To enter our closed community, the access code is CCOMTL. When you accept the terms & conditions, you will be part of our community!

Furthermore, if you require further assistance, you can find a member of our team on the 8th floor of the E wing of the JGH from February 21st until March 4th. Hope & Cope will also be offering Q&A/Trouble-shooting sessions on February 24th, 2022 from 3:00-4:00PM and March 8th from 6:00-7:00PM .
